1) Tim Berners-Lee is a computer scientist and the inventor of the Internet.

2) He invented the World Wide Web in 1989 while working at CERN (A European particle Physics research organization).

3) Tim Berners-Lee was born on 8th June 1955 in London of England.

4) As a child Lee was fascinated by computers. 

5) He graduated from Oxford University.

6) He invented the web to meet the demand for information sharing between scientists around the world.

7) He founded World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). It is responsible for developing and maintaining the standards and protocols of the Internet.

8) Berners-Lee received numerous awards and honors. He became the Fellow of the Royal Society in 2001.

9) In 2004, he was knighted by H.M. Queen Elizabeth.

10) He was awarded the Order of Merit in 2007.
