Essay On My Favourite Movie Pk

Dominicana by Angie Cruz Book review

Dominicana by Angie Cruz Book review Dominicana by Angie Cruz. This is a new release. I think it comes out in like September 3rd or like early September. But it was actually released a little bit early through book of the month.  I usually am not great about reading my book of the month books right away all the time. But it was kind of just like sitting there and I had like a free day and I was like,  I'm just gonna grab this one because it's on the top of my multiple piles of unread books. And I was immediately hooked. So in this story you are following this girl named Ana Canción and it starts off while she is 15 years old and living in the Dominican Republic.  And it takes place in like the 1960s. So yeah, she's about 15 years old and the story starts off with her talking about how basically she knows that her parents are going to force her to marry this specific man who is significantly older.  I think he's like in his 30s. And it's mainly because like it'

Lucy and Linh by Alice Pung Book Review

Lucy and Linh by Alice Pung Book Review  Lucy and linh by alice pung it came out a number of years ago at this point. It was originally published in australia in 2014 and then came out in the united states in 2016.  And it's one of those books that i've had sitting on my like library tbr list that i keep for about that a lot amount of time, and i've been like slowly trying to chip away at that thing.  But yes, i was originally interested in this book because it hits a lot of ideas and themes that i really enjoy. It is set in australia and you are following this girl as she gets entrance into this really exclusive private school, all girls private school.  And so you follow lucy over the course of a single school year as she transfers to this new school and her experiences with it. So it's like a coming-of-age story, as you would expect, and it's also about sort of like the atmosphere and world inside of this private school.  There is like this group of girls calle

The Three Musketeers by Alexander Dumas book review

The Three Musketeers by Alexander Dumas book review The Three Musketeers by Alexander Dumas book Going into it I knew literally nothing about the three musketeers other than there were three musketeers. Like I didn't know what this plot was like, I've never seen or read or experienced any sort of adaptation of this.  So I legitimately had zero exposure to the three musketeers. So this whole experience with reading this book has been really interesting for me because I really didn't know what to expect. And I feel like what you get out of this book is not at all what you can infer from pop culture.  Like I'm the type of person where I pick up a lot of things about like classic movies and classic books just based on the way that people talk about it. And the way that people talk about the three musketeers feel so far off from this book. And I don't know if that's just because adaptations change it so much or what. But yeah, this this book is not at all what I th

The Devotion of Suspect X by Keigo Higashino book review

The Devotion of Suspect X by Keigo Higashino book review The Devotion of Suspect X by Keigo Higashino this book and I decided to pick it up. And oh man, you guys, I loved it. So the story starts off with you following this character named Yasuko who is a divorced single mom.  And she thinks that she's finally gotten away from her ex-husband when all of a sudden he shows up at the restaurant that she works at. So every time he shows up he's like trying to get back together with her.  And in the past she has just like given him money basically to make him go away. And this time she's like trying to get rid of him without like having to do that or like having any sort of association with him.  But he's like threatening to go and find their daughter who's at school and like going and approaching her. He was an abusive ex-husband and all of this stuff and so she's been basically on the hideout for-- from him for a while. So she basically tells him to get lost.  And

Good Talk by Mira Jaco Book Review

Good Talk by Mira Jaco Book Review  Good Talk by Mira Jaco this book mira jacob is exploring a lot of different topics. A lot of them revolving around identity and specifically like american identity, racial identity, things along those lines. But also things like parenthood and her life growing up and sort of how that's formed how she views things now and those sorts of things. So the story begins with her having a conversation with her son who is biracial.  Her husband is jewish american man. Her son is asking questions about his own identity, about really like sort of basic in terms of like surface level what he's looking for sort of questions, but questions that are really complicated to answer. So things about like skin tones and people's races without specifically saying those things. So he's asking like whether or not like his other biracial friends that he knows are similar to him or not. He starts asking questions about like michael jackson because he was rea

Conjure Women by Afia Atakora book Review

Conjure Women by Afia Atakora book Review  Conjure women by Afia Atakora this is a historical fiction book and you are following two timelines in this book.  The first one is set during slavery time, or during-- right before the civil war takes place and kind of through part of the civil war.  And then there is the timeline of freedom time, which takes place about like five to ten years after the civil war has finished.  In the slavery time timeline, you are following-- or you're mainly following a character named miss may belle who is basically a healer on a plantation.  She's obviously a slave herself, and so her duty on the plantation is to take care of the other slaves,  Whether it be you know healing them, providing them with like various medicinal needs, or like being a midwife and helping with the birth of various children.  She herself has a daughter named rue and you also follow a little bit of things from rue's point of view as well.  And then the freedom time tim

The Other Black Girl by Zakiya Dalila Harris book review

The Other Black Girl by Zakiya Dalila Harris book review The Other Black Girl by Zakiya Dalila Harris. This is a relatively new release that came out earlier this year and it was getting a whole lot of publishing buzz. I think partially because it takes place in the publishing world, but it's also a pretty good book.  In this story you are following this black girl named Nella who works at this publishing company named wagner books. It seems like it's a pretty big publisher, like akin to one of the big five publishers like penguin or harper or something along those lines, harpercollins.  She's basically been the only black girl working at this publishing company as long as she's been there. And at the beginning of the book she sees that another black girl has been hired at the company and she's super excited that she will no longer be the only black girl at this publishing company.  The other black girl that gets hired is this girl named hazel. She just seems like

Hyperfocus by Chris Bailey pdf Download  Details of Hyperfocus by Chris Bailey  pdf Book Name:  Hyperfocus  Authors:   Chris Bailey Pages:  267 Genre:  A self-help  book Publish Date:   28 August 2018 Language:  English Book Review: Hyperfocus by Chris Bailey  is just one of the reasons that we so often find it difficult to concentrate on our work.  There are severe limits to how much we're able to focus on at once. And keeping the spotlight on the 40 most important bits is hard when the other 10.9 million usually contain more than a few temptations.  So in my constant quest to improve my own ability to focus on my work, I recently picked up the book "Hyper Focus" by Chris Bailey to see if it had any new focus-boosting tricks that I could hide up my sleeves, which are honestly kind of short  so I'm not sure how many tricks are gonna fit up there. But for me, this book was a great deep dive into many topics surrounding focus and concentration.  Our mi
